That work also takes in North Station in Boston, educational institutions such as Salem State College, retail environments such as Jordan’s Furniture in Reading, MA, and entertainment venues such as Walt Disney World in Florida. His construction experience started in his early teens as a laborer for a general contractor and a flooring contractor, then progressed to a production millwork shop. After two and a half years there he started working as a carpenter, covering all aspects of construction from foundations to roofing and everything in between. He has also worked as a site superintendent, conducting site layouts and overseeing the construction of commercial storage buildings in central Massachusetts. While in architectural school he worked for one of the premier wood flooring contractors in the country, doing custom wood floor installations.

He attended the Boston Architectural College and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1999. After working in various firms in and around Boston, he became a registered Architect in 2007 and registered in North Carolina in 2010.

Hows It Bean

A client came to us wanting their new coffee shop to have a cabin-like, outdoorsy feel on a budget. That brief might read as a daunting task elsewhere, but at Douglas McClentic Architect we love a good design challenge. Our design took the client’s idea, used the elements already in the build and treated them with forms and finishes that give the abstract feel of a cabin in the mountains, all while holding to a budget the client could live with. The project shows that genuinely creative design is still within reach at an affordable price. We listened, we brainstormed, we delivered.

Cuban Revolution

Described by some as one of the most beautiful restaurant spaces in Providence, this adaptation of a former mill building at “the Plant” on Valley Street pairs an old industrial shell with ideas about challenging the status quo. The result is a restaurant that combines an old-world industrial feel with contemporary flair.
